Get to Know Us: The Macabre Mind Behind the Madness

Welcome to Obsidian Skull Press—where the ink is black, the humor is dark, and the calaveras (real or metaphorical) are always in season. I’m TL Hutton, Mexican-Cherokee author, professional nerd, and the unsettling brain behind this beautifully cursed operation.

Sure, this is the official haunt for my own macabre musings—think cultural horror soaked in blood and sociologically relevant context that does'nt only bite, but severs entire appendages—but it’s also my love letter to the literary underground: crafted in a place where I sip Chiapas grown coffee brewed from the ashes of my exes’ dreams and amplify voices the world tries to bury.

“As a niño I had a vision. A vision that, over time, evolved into a dream. And that dream is to build an inclusive online, as well as international brick-and-mortar, presence within the Arts and Literary communities, where all can share, hear, and celebrate those unsung voices who, like the Old Gods, breathe into them life.”

Obsidian Skull Press Submissions

Hey, Wordsmiths of the Macabre and Artists of the Unhinged! Obsidian Skull Press is hereby summoning all twisted scribes, ink-drenched weirdos, and illustrators of the profound to send us your most unholy creations! Do you have a tale so dark it gives vampires nightmares? A poem that smells of rotten roses and regret? A painting that whispers your secrets while you sleep? We want it.

We’re on a witch-hunt for stories that spew ink, blood, and raw, unbridled vibes. Whether you’re channeling the spirit of a vengeful taxidermy bear, unraveling the existential dread of a sentient teapot, or just really into people getting stabbed by their own metaphors—we’re here for it. (Seriously, the teapot one better be real.)

(For the Creatively Demented & Story-Hungry)
Got a Story That’ll Make a Wendigo run in fear? We’re All Ears!

Why Submit?

  • We Celebrate Weird. If it’s original, offensive (in the best way), or makes us question our life choices, it’s probably perfect.

  • Diversity of the Damned. We’re building a pantheon of voices often left in the shadows—marginalized storytellers, genre-blurring madmen, and anyone who’s ever been told “tone it down” or "you don't belong" one too many times.

  • Tangible Hell. We don’t just eat your words—we cherish them. (Metaphorically. We don’t actually feed on souls… or do we?)

What to Send Us:

  • Stories that claw their way out of the void (dark horror, weird fiction, cosmic dread that touches on contemporary social issues—bring it on).

  • Art that makes galleries shiver and your mom ask, “Is this a thing?”

  • Essays on topics like “Why My Cat is the Antichrist” or “The Semiotics of Rotting Flesh.”

How to Impress Us:

  1. Be Unapologetically You. (We’re not fans of basic.)

  2. Ignore the Rules. (There are none. Just don’t send us llamas in space. That’s a hard no.)

  3. Include a Note about why your work deserves to haunt our shelves. (Pro tip: Mentioning your protagonist’s obsession with tax evasion and bodily fluids will earn bonus points.)

Your Story is More Than a Whisper— It is ROAR!

Ready to make us scream with delight? Check out our guidelines or toss your submissions at "Submit Here" below, and let’s turn your chaos into a keepsake of sanity (or lack thereof).

We don’t just publish stories and art. We excavate nightmares, resurrect forgotten voices, and turn your ink-stained madness into something beautiful. Ready to make us scream with delight? Let’s feast on your submissions! 🖤

(P.S. If you’re a sentient demon with a pitch, we’re definitely listening. Email us. Let’s make a pact.)

Stand with Us

A deep-seated anger and profound grief permeates First Nations communities as families grapple with the agonizing reality of missing and murdered Indigenous women. It is a grief born of loss, of unanswered questions, and of a persistent, heartbreaking reality: the disproportionate number of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people (MMIWG2S+). The absence of these vital members from families and communities is a wound that festers, a constant reminder of systemic failures and historical injustices.

Obsidian Skull Press passionately supports the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) cause; we believe in amplifying the voices of marginalized communities and advocating for justice. The devastating impact of violence against Indigenous women and girls is a stark reality that demands our attention and action.

Using our platform to raise awareness, share stories, and promote education, Obsidian Skull Press aims to shed light on the systemic issues that contribute to this crisis. We recognize the need for solidarity and the importance of honoring the lives and stories of those who have been lost, working towards healing and empowerment for Indigenous communities.

At Obsidian Skull Press, we stand in solidarity with Native Hope and the communities they serve. We encourage you to learn more about their work and consider supporting their mission.

Join us in our efforts to abolish the perpetual victimizing of our Native sisters, to inspire change and foster a society that values every life and stands firmly against violence and injustice. Together, we can help create a more just and equitable future for all.

The red hand symbolizes the connection between the physical world and the spiritual world. Native Americans believe that the dead can see red, so by wearing red we invoke the help of our ancestors and spiritual guides.
